Pro-Life Efforts
St. Malachy Parish has a small but very dedicated Respect Life Committee made up of parishioners who keep us informed on life issues. They organize our parish participation
in Respect Life Month (October), the March for Life in January and encourage us to support programs such as People Concerned for the Unborn, and Birthright. We are very
grateful to them for all that they do to support life. If you are interested in joining this committee, please contact Sister Jolenta in the Parish Office.
March For Life
Each January, our parish joins others for the March for Life to let our voices be heard for those who have no voice.
Life Chain
Our parish participates in Life Chain each year. Life Chain is a peaceful public witness of pro-life people
standing (or bring a chair and sit) for one hour praying for our nation and for an end of abortion. Life Chain is a
visual statement of solidarity by the community that abortion kills children and that the Church supports the sanctity of
human life from the moment of conception. People Concerned for the Unborn
Child, a pro-life organization, provides the signs you will hold while standing on our sidewalk along Forest Grove Road.
Plan to be a part of Life Chain and speak for our preborn sisters and brothers. Life Chain is a national event
that takes place on Respect Life Sunday each October. Please contact Sr. Jolenta at the
Parish Office for more information.
Knights of Columbus Family Shrine
The St. Malachy Knights of Columbus shrine to the family and memorial for the unborn is located on the side of the church opposite McDermott Funeral Home.
Originally dedicated October 29, 2006 and recently upgraded with the stone plaque visible behind the statue and supporting masonry. The statue
is a 36” cast bronze depiction of the Holy Family. It was designed by a family business, the Demetz Art Studio located in Ortisei, Italy founded in 1872.
All masonry and landscaping courtesy of Country Club Gardens. Please take a moment to stop by the memorial, enjoy the beautiful setting and offer a prayer.
Prayer For The Helpless Unborn
Heavenly Father, in Your love for us, protect against wickedness of the devil, those helpless little ones to whom You have given the gift of life. Touch with pity
the hearts of those women pregnant in our world today who are not thinking of motherhood. Help them to see that the child they carry is made in Your Image - as well
as theirs - made for eternal life. Dispel their fear and selfishness and give them true womanly hearts to love their babies and give them birth and all the needed
care that a mother can give. We ask this through Jesus Christ, Your Son, Our Lord, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, One God, forever and ever. Amen.
