All Flea Market items (please no clothing) may be dropped off in the school lobby. Thank you for your cooperation and treasures! This weekend, July 31 and August 1, is our parish’s monthly collection of nonperishable food items for the less fortunate. These items will help stock the Focus on Renewal’s Food Pantry.
Each year the parish treats the altar servers with a Kennywood ticket for the School Picnic. This year, the parish is asking those servers who would like a ticket to please come to the Parish Office.
We have started a Catholic Men’s Fellowship Group here at St. Malachy Parish. The mission of the group is to provide a means by which men of the parish can increase their spirituality and deepen their understanding of our Catholic faith in a relaxed, collegial format. Meetings will be held on a bi-monthly basis in the Parish Office Meeting Room. Each meeting will consist of an opening prayer, followed by a discussion of a topic from Signposts (which is developed for men’s fellowship groups), as well as reference to and readings from the Bible and Catholic Catechism, and a closing prayer. There will be breakfast and coffee available and some special time to allow for interaction with your fellow parishioners. If you have been looking for an opportunity to grow in your faith, please call Tony DeSalle at 412.352.4496, Dan Trocchio at 412.352.1227 or Carlos Turcios at 412.720.8417.
The Diocese of Pittsburgh is again planning its annual Golden Wedding Celebration for the couples who have been married for 50 years. This year’s celebration will take place on Sunday, October 3 beginning with Mass at 3:00 PM at St. Paul Cathedral. Bishop Zubik will be the celebrant. A reception will follow in the lower hall at the Cathedral.
If you are a parishioner celebrating your 50th wedding anniversary in 2010 and you are interested in attending the celebration along with the other jubliarian couples, please contact the Parish Office or drop a note in the weekly collection basket no later than August 8. Invitations will be sent out after responses have been received.
The scheduling of Mass Intentions for 2011 will take place on Monday, September 13 and Tuesday, September 14 in the Parish Office Meeting Room from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. All Mass Intentions will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. The donation is $10 for each Mass Intention.
With 365 days in a calendar year and only one Mass scheduled per day, all Mass Intentions will be scheduled to the nearest requested date. With over 2,500 families in the parish this is not always an easy task. Thank you for your continued cooperation.
